Good job DJ.I love old songs though I must admit I hardly know these American ones.Elvis Presley must have made his debut in 50's.I wish you had some videos here.

So many good songs, ooh. Elvis and Buddy Holly and the Kingston Trio and the Everly Brothers... it was a good decade.

Though there were also some *coughpurplepeopleeatercough* that I really wish I could expunge from my brain forever. *g*

Nice! An important time in the evolution of rock. So much diversity in the 50's.

Lots of great music here DJ, but forgive me if I point out that Bing Crosby recorded hundreds of songs in the 1950's including three Gold Records: "Play a Simple Melody" and "Sam's Song" with his son, Gary, and "True Love" with Grace Kelly. He also made more than a dozen movies during the '50s, including "White Christmas," "The Country Girl" and " High Society," the latter with Frank Sinatra. Bing had been a top star since 1930, so by the '50s he spent a lot more time hunting, fishing and golfing -- and with his second family. Thanks, DJ, for the memories.

Your Welcome sir, and it's great to hear about Bing in his latter days.

I love music period. I have learned to like at least one or two songs from each type of music that was and is now out there. I do love the 50's, big band, classical and the 60's most of all.... I need to have you host a party here in Cali... OH and boy did you tossed and tumbled over the worst 100 songs! I read the comments and was like, lighten folks.. Relax... Can I make you a drink...

What I didn't learn to love by watching greatest hits commercials and HAPPY DAYS as a kid, I found affection for with PBS Doo Wop specials in recent years. I can see how young teens ended up at "Inspiration Point" listening to a lot of these smooth grooves.

great memories - thanks. there are a few sites with Top Hits but they start with 1960. i started listening to rock and roll when i was about 6 or 7 - 1953,'54. in NY, we had 2 or 3 stations on the AM dial, and that was all she wrote - 670 WMCA, 1010 WINS and 1050 WMGM. Zacherly was on at midnight, not sure if it was Fri or Sat - been a while, what can i say? again thanks for the memories.

Super great job, DJ! I was fortunate enough to see and hear, in person, almost all of these great artists sing their hits. My dad was a radio dj throughout the 50's, and thanks to his connection to broadcasting, he always had press passes to all of the Show of Stars concerts that traveled from city to city with an amazing line-up of recording artists. Wish I still had my autograph book with all of their comments and signatures. Unfortunately, and unknown to me, my younger sister took my autograph book to school, lost it, or someone kept it, and I never again had the opportunity to collect all those priceless signatures, especially ones like Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.

I remember all those songs!! I'm so glad I came across this site --- it's great! But what I was really searching for were the words to a song in waltz time: "You are ....; you are ....; .... And the more I ... of you, All the more I love you." Okay, so it's not much to go on, but I'd really like to know. (They played it at the roller rink in the late 50's.)
